Mr. Andrew D. Snead is the Henrico County Division of Fire Personnel Coordinator. Andrew is responsible for developing a structured recruitment and retention program including marketing, advertising, and community outreach efforts. Andrew oversees and manages the hiring and promotional processes for the Division of Fire. Andrew serves as the coordinator for the Division of Fire Human Relations Committee. His civilian position reports directly to the Assistant Chief of Professional Services. Andrew has served in this role since August of 2014.
Andrew concluded his thirty three (33) year uniformed fire service career as the Assistant Fire-EMS Chief of Operations with Alexandria Fire Department in Alexandria, Virginia. He served in that role from November of 2008 to August of 2014. He was responsible for the day to day emergency and non-emergency operations of the Alexandria Fire Department. His last six months with the City of Alexandria he served in the role of interim Fire Chief. His previous fire service experience includes twenty-six years with Fairfax County Fire and Rescue, retiring as a Deputy Fire Chief in 2008. His assignments in Fairfax included leadership positions in a wide range of areas including operations, support services, EMS, human resources, and safety.
Andrew is recognized as a premier motivational speaker who is able to clearly articulate the organization’s vision in a manner in which all members can understand and relate.
A native of Goochland County, Virginia Andrew attended Goochland County Public Schools, graduating with Honors. He received his Bachelor’s of Science Degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, with a major in Urban Studies and Planning. Andrew attended Northern Virginia Community College to earn his Advanced Life Support certification. He subsequently attended George Washington University to obtain his National Registry of Emergency Technician Paramedic certification. He is a 2007 Executive Fire Officer Program graduate from the National Fire Academy.
